replacing 5 lug hubs or whatever it is called

I have an 89 gtu as a parts car and a 90 gxl as my main car. my front passenger and rear passenger 5 lug hubs on my gxl is messed up. the current hubs both have one lug broken in half therefore i can only bolt 4 lug nuts.

How do I remove just the hub or whatever it is called? I see two Phillip screws and a nut in the front. What size is that nut? I'm currently at work (WalMart) and could buy what I need to get this done tomorrow. I searched the forums and google and it only shows how to go at it from a 4lug to 5lug swap point of view. I just want the hub part since the rest of the rotors and such are still good.

The rear hub needs to be pressed out so you can't do that with any Walmart tools.
The front you need to get the brake caliper bracket off to get the Rotor and hub and bearing assembly off.
Then you have to contend with separating the hub from the Brake rotor, which will probably be corroded on so bad ..IF you are changing the Hub out,may as well get another Rotor too.(do em both)
I think the nut is 24mm.

any decent mechanic will be able to help you, you should be not touching your hubs and brakes if you have no clue what you are looking at. If you remove your wheels, I suggest a torque wrench. You are probably over tightening your studs and breaking them. Driving around with 4 properly torqued nuts should be ok in the meantime

yeah, i was just wondering. i made a mistake buying the car and over looked the wheels the other day. i bought it just to drive for the mean time and fix the exteriors overtime. i found out the lugs were messed up when i replaced the front passenger wheel due to tire going bad.

lesson learned, but this should be fixed soon for me. feeling insecure knowing only 4 are bolted on.

Just press/hammer the broken stud out and pull a new one in, very simple, probably would take you less than 30 minutes for just one stud.

Ideally you take off the hub and replace the axle nut if its the rear, if you dont have abs you can likely have the studs removed/replaced without needing to get the hub seperated from the spindle with a press..

.Also if you really want to get into it you can replace your stock dtss bushing with dtss eliminators, you'd have to do both sides on the rear to do it , it's not that hard I can help if you need help

This is frowned upon as it puts stress on your bearings , but if you don't have abs rings on your hubs you can smash the studs out with a sledgehammsr and pull it out the back , then pull the new stud back through with washers under the lug and an impact gun, I had abs rings on mine and had to get everything taken off and apart in order to get the studs out...

I cut off one of the abs rings and removed it without separating the hub from the spindle on one of my fronts, very time consuming but it is possible.
