Replacement Connectors

Wow, thank you all for the reminder that this thread exists. I've barely thought about the RX7s since I started full time at a machine shop.
clokker, naturally I'd remember! Your electric fan writeup was one of the first posts I read on this forum and I've had it saved for eternity.
DC5Daniel, I actually did stumble on KET - it was one of the sources I found for Yazaki PA connectors and the circular interconnects under the brake master cylinder. Of course they would be if they designed it! I figured that, considering they're a Korean company, they were another company that manufactured them rather than who designed them, but clearly I was wrong. That puts them in a whole new perspective for me. Maybe tomorrow I'll go combing through their catalog again. I don't remember being able to find a way to source them though, which also aligns with what you said. Thank you for clarifying that! Here's their page on the circular connectors:
KET | Korea Electric Terminal
Finding the 58 series connectors was actually a coincidence since I was going in circles around the Yazaki catalogs. I thought "that's suspiciously familiar" before realizing the fan relay was a perfect match. I think one of the 58 connectors also matches the fan connector on my clunky awful Civic, but from a different series. The temptation to comb the Honda for connectors as well is there, but I absolutely refuse to spend too much time poking at it. It's going to stay a daily, and the less I spend under the hood, the less chance I have of doing something stupid to it.
FuhrerTuner, I'm actually having troubles physically locating that connector. Is that for S4s? All of the 7s I have are 1987 model year. I don't see a 3 pin connector anywhere on mine. If you have a picture of it, please provide it so I can see if I've seen it before.
Also to clear the waters on some of what I've posted, I did end up clarifying some of my own uncertainty of various connectors. The MICs are a perfect match for the PA-series connectors, S5s have a completely different MAF connector I have not identified yet, the DS250 does not match anything on the FC, and I think I identified the IAT connector, but I have yet to open the box from Mouser that my sample is in... Wretched laziness. Will update on that when I can. Likewise for the oil pressure sender connector.

TE MIC/MKII I use for a lot of connections around the car. Are you know, they weren't the original supplier, but they make a clone of many of connectors around the car, including many you've identified the original source for in this thread. They're so easy to source via Digikey, I try TE first before jumping through hoops with CycleTerminal, Eastern Beaver, and Corsa.
I found the original pins for the under hood fusebox from Eastern Beaver, I will confirm when they arrive. I also found some alternatives from CycleTerminal and Digikey that will work, but not my first choice.

I've been looking up a lot of these recently as well, I believe I have some more knowledge I can drop once I get back home. My engine harness is in need of some repair and I've been thinking about going all out.

So, for those of us in North America, needing to get a minimum order for Eastern Beaver can be difficult at times. Corsa Technic also has the O2 sensor plug for the harness side:
https://www.corsa-technic.com/item.p...ategory_id=109
The S5 BAC has been described as a Nippon Denso dual slot connector. That connector will work, but here is what seems to be the exact match (in green!):
https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pr...n5pgp71buej7p5
Connectors for the OMP harness (a sealed 3 position and sealed 6 position) are the Sumitomo sealed MT series:
https://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/E...-MT/sm-mt.html
Motorcycle MT .090 Sealed Series - Connector and Terminals
The ones with the clip to snap onto a bracket are the correct ones.
That's a sampling of what I have found so far to add to the knowledge base.

I know your post was from two years ago, and you may have likely found it by now, but the one position O2 sensors are Amp Econoseal. These are also found in various locations through the FC, three position variants are up in the engine bay for the front turn signals.

Something that Eastern Beaver has that Corsa Technic doesn't is this funky circular connector series called the Sumitomo DS250. It's more a hunch than anything, but they remind me of the interconnects dangling under the brake master cylinder and the connector for the idle mixture screw:

Did you ever find out what these round connectors are? I'm trying to source some of the 4 way ones for the headlight retractors and can't seem to find them detailed anywhere!

No sorry..I tried but failed in finding any info on these...I just robbed some from a parts car which are now hard to find as well.

Wow, I've been gone for a hot minute. I'll try to update what I've found over the years.
The S4 O2 sensor is a funky rectangular weather sealed .250" contact connector. It shares this connector with the knock sensor, and I still haven't found it. On my personal cars, I've substituted a generic spade terminal because I've been incredibly lazy. In fairness, it works with replacement O2 sensors right out of the box. For S5, the Econoseal would be the correct connector.
There's a split between Econoseal and Econoseal J or Econoseal III or something that's got me completely confused. But there is a larger and a smaller version of these connectors, and the smaller ones are mostly what we see on FCs (turn signals as mentioned, there's another one by the brake master cylinder - brake fluid level maybe?) while the larger ones are more extensively used on FDs (these also usually have a yellow insert inside the connector IIRC)
@Nosferatu , I bought my MIC connectors from a mix of Mouser and TE's website, but searching up the part numbers should give you several options in case one vendor or the other imposes ridiculous lead times or minimum buys. I don't think TE has perfect coverage of the colors that exist on the RX7 (some colors are also opaque while the originals are transparent), so that should be noted if you're going for the OEM look. Since I've started paying attention to them, I've also noticed these connectors are what the window switches use.
The circular connectors are not the Sumitomo DS series, that ended up being a total red herring. Judging from the motor side of the connector, it looks like one of the KET connectors discussed earlier used in the harness interconnects. That link I've posted is dead, so I can't tell you what series of connector it is without more digging. It's essentially a rectangular grid of connectors stuck in a circular connector body. I've seen 4 and 6 pin connectors on the FC, and I think that's all the variations. Again, will be difficult to source like mentioned. I would strongly recommend splicing in a different connector altogether if you can't get a donor.
I dug out the Delphi/Aptiv connector with the offset tab I ordered years ago. Good news - it fits S4 ECU water temperature sensors, and might fit 1988 injectors, I just need to get my hands on a set first. Delphi/Aptiv P/N 12129143 is the connector I tested, but the other one with the different colored wire seal should also fit. Still no solution for the S4 BACV.
I also tested that IAT connector I found and it worked, but I don't have a P/N handy. Will dig that out eventually.
A personal source of frustration for me was the extensive use of connectors with built in snap clips in the harness, and not being able to find replacements that have them. The only thing I did find was TE P/N 172383-1, which is a Sumitomo 250 Armlock/Yazaki .250" CN(A) type with a snap clip, but it's the wrong size clip to fit anything in the RX7 and its the male terminal side of the connector. If I remember correctly, most connectors on the FC with a snap clip of this style are on the female terminal side of the connector. For personal projects, I've opted to splice in Deutsch DT or Delphi/Aptiv GT connectors, depending on what budget the project has. Both have a few options for mounting tabs, snap clips, and christmas tree rivets.
Doubling back to the Deutsch connectors, I'm sure people are aware that Amphenol makes copy parts that are cheaper (you can easily cross-reference by replacing the D with an A in the part number). I recall mine were listed as originating from China, so that might be a sticking point, as the proper Deutsch connectors are made in USA. Molex I recall also used to make DT copies but I think they've since discontinued their lineup and I can't find any info on it.
I don't remember if anyone actually went through with putting an RX8 pedal in an RX7 for a DBW conversion, but the connector for it is a Yazaki 090II series... 6 pin I think.
I have part numbers for the mating connectors for Walbro 455 pumps, IGN-1A coils, GM flex sensors (the actual correct keying that doesn't require butchering the sensor tabs), and some other small swap/aftermarket EMS stuff, but it's buried in an old drive I have to dig out. If someone wants to put them here before I do, please spare me the archaeological dig
Last non-RX7 detour, for aftermarket speakers that have a large and small terminal, the large one will fit any .250" female, while the smaller one fits a 2.8mm (~.110") terminal, i.e. GT280 or MetriPack 280, which I usually use because I have hundreds lying around (minimum buys every time).
@JerryLH3 , @DC5Daniel , and @DR_Knight , thank you for your inputs. I hope this ends up being a good resource for everyone, even if it takes a decade, lol

One other poplular upgrade I'm trying to source is the alternator harness plugs for the ford 95-97 L4 contour 130 amp. alternator. these cars are long gone from the wreckers to rob from. The 3 pin connector looks like a amp/tyco junior timer series connector but the 1 pin connector I have no idea...the junior series 1 pin I saw pictured looked different. i'll verify once I figure that one out.

thanks for updating to all ...this is a great help in identifying and sourcing the connectors on this car.if you do find the time it would be greatly appreciated on the above connectors for most popular upgrades like walbro,ign-1a, and flex sensors.

Comparison to Ford/Motorcraft's OE P/N 3U2Z14S411SHA:
As for the single pin, the correct connector pops up if you search "Ford Stator Connector" or "Ford Alternator Regulator Connector". The Ford OEM P/N on mine is E0BB-14489-CA. Unfortunately I can only offer pigtail options since I'm stuck looking for what family the connector belongs to. That being said, the wire from the single pin connector just doubles back into the 3 pin connector on mine, so you should be able to make a clean repair/replica of the wiring using a pigtail.
There is a somewhat dubious claim saying that the manufacturer of the Ford OEM parts are Yazaki but I haven't seen anything that supports that. The terminal design is incredibly distinctive so I will definitely recognize it if I eventually run into it looking for other connectors.
Anyways Pico 5747PT is one of the aftermarket options:
Let me know if that looks about right for your alternator

I believe I have sourced almost every connector in an S5 TII emissions harness (with some caveats). There are a couple that are dragging me down big time, so I will throw it out there in case anyone has stumbled across them:
AFM - 5 pin sealed female
Knock sensor - 1 pin unsealed male
In the grand scheme of things, the knock sensor is unimportant. Virtually any 1 position connector set can be made to work if you put a new connector on the knock sensor as well. The AFM is a bit more important.

AliExpress is a rabbit hole I didn't really try but every 5 pin or 5 position search I do seems to bring up all the same stuff I've found at Ballenger, Corsa-Technic, and Cycle Terminal.
There's a few I'm tempted to try, but nothing perfectly matches. The S5 plug has no lock for the terminals, and many of the five position I've found do. Nothing seems to match perfectly as far as keyways either. It's out there somewhere, but I've come up very empty.

Hi all,
Very small update. I was looking for connectors for my Civic (remember how I said I wasn't going to poke into it?) and stumbled across this:
It seems like Corsa Technic quietly added the solenoid connectors for the RX7s (archival sites say the product was added sometime last year in November, which is a few months after the last time I posted). That finally closes the loop on the days of fruitless searching. I was a bit dumbfounded on why I never ever ran into this connector in previous searches, so I started combing Furukawa's catalogs, Googling the P/N, the connector family, etc. etc. and the Corsa Technic page is really the only thing that pops up. Furukawa's literature doesn't seem to acknowledge its existence. I don't know how they found it but I'm thankful for it anyways.
While looking through Furukawa's catalogs, I was reminded of their MC series connectors looking very close to the .250" connectors with the mounting rivets on our cars. Haven't found anywhere that sells them or lists the hole size that rivet is meant for, so I can't verify if it's the right thing. Part of me wants to set up a business just to attempt to buy these connectors (and potentially ply Furukawa about why the VC series connectors seem invisible to the internet). That might even open up an avenue to buy the JFC/MJFC connectors for all those offset tab EV1 applications, but I'm getting ahead of myself here.
I've never actually held an S5 harness and seen the S5 AFM/knock sensor connectors in detail. Do you think you could get some pictures of yours? When you're referring to a lock, are you talking about a separate locking piece to retain the terminals like Aptiv/Delphi's TPAs?

S5 AFM:
S5 Knock:
When I referred to a lock for the terminals, I was referring to a separate piece that locks in all terminals at once, similar to an AMP/Econoseal.
The FD knock sensor uses a one position Tyco AMP/Econoseal, thus you can use an FD knock sensor. But then I saw the price and it's way cheaper to simply put the one position of my choice onto an FC knock sensor.
For the AFM, I had talked to Claudio at Tuning Technology and he could not come up with it either. Funny on the timing for the solenoid connectors. I stumbled across them one day and thought it was funny that RX-7s were even the only thing on the application list.

A little off topic but, my race car has a gutted interior and the fuel pump connector is exposed to sunshine through the hatch glass. I recently had to troubleshoot a fuel pump relay problem and when I looked at the fuel pump connector, the plastic crumbled in my hand. (actually just the female connector on the harness side)
Any idea how well these replacement connectors in general hold up to UV light?
