replaced radiator and still running warm
i replaced the radiator with another stock one like a week ago. Cause it was clogged. But it ran cool/normal S4 guage
1/4 way up. This week it has been running at 1/2 alot and 1/4 just for a bit. Seems to cool down to normal when crusiing at 2500RPM at 65mph. But if in traffic or hard driving it goes up to 1/2. I replaced the radiator cause i had the exact opposite before would run 1/2 on the gauge when cruisin. What could this be caused by?
Water pump impellers wore out?
T-stat?
The belt driven fan tested good the thermo clutch is good.

Could be a tired water pump, but remember, 1/2 way up an S4 temp gage is fairly normal on a hot day/ spirited driving...My entire coolant system is fairly new, and I run at 1/2 on a hot Houston day (most of the other times it's at 1/4 or lower)...

yeh i bled the new system. well tonight it was probably about 86 or so and the humidty was prbably bout 50% or less.
I was thinking maybe the water pump was tried and worn out. when you replace it you just get the impeller housing and not the whole water pump housing that hooks directly to the block?

Right- just the water pump...try to keep the housing in place when you pull the pump- otherwise you'll break the gasket bond between the front housing & the water pump housing (or, just plan on taking the housing off too- just get new gaskets, they're only a couple of bucks)

So...add coolant
Check your overflow line & tank for air leaks, which could prevent the rad from "sucking" the overflow back in on cool-down
Also check the rad cap, a bad one will do the same thing...

I would change out the thermostat first. NAPA sells them for 15 bucks, plus the t-stat gasket. I would try that before prying off the water pump, and replacing that.

thanx for the info. Going to put on a mazada oem T-stat tomorrow. I already got the water wetter in there. That stuff really works to its amazing. I'll see if the T-stat works, finger crossed, then if the problem is still there i will replace the water pump.
Thanx for the help everyone.
