replaced busted diff. mount, new clunking sound!

i replaced my broken differential mount a couple of weekends ago. it was broken when i bought the car, so i never drove it with a fixed mount until just now. now, when i decelerate, if the engine is below about 3k (engine braking only) the car rocks foward and backward as it decelerates, and i hear a new clunking sound coming from the diver's side rear. this had always been there, but i just attributed it to the busted mount. i've read through tons of threads on the differential mount subject, but to no avail. any ideas?

It can very well be a worn out CV joint.

yeah, it's pretty irritating sometimes.

is there any way that the worn cv joint could produce a sound that sounds like it's only coming from the driver's side?

These are all things the rear end shouldent be doing. Im having the same kind of problems. Im thinking its a combination of bad mounts, u-joints, low fluid etc.

ok. the u-joints seem like a likely source, because when i was under the car, i could turn the propeller shaft about an 1/8th of an inch either way before it bumped up against any resistance. does this sound like it might be worn out? the previous owner claimed that she replaced it very recently, but i guess that a year and a half (most of it occurring before i owned the car) of driving around with a busted diff. mount could wear it out prematurely?
