If im not mistaken the one way check valve you have to install to make this work is restricitve...

run around the block with a soup spoon in your mouth and see how having a restricted airway is bad.

*I am in no way responsible for what happends to anyone that runs around the block with a soup spoon in any part of thier body.*

I put a brake booster check valve from an old chevy, on the end of my bypass valve. It's been working fine for six months now, no boost flutter and after the tip if the check valve melted a little from the hot air it made a really cool PSSHHWEEEE sound. I like heavy duty stuff though, and the stock valve is not so heavy duty, and although it does have 180,000 miles on it and still works, it does look like crap. C'mon you can't have go with no show. Most race cars have nice shiny paint jobs, wouldn't they be faster without that gallon or two of lacquer? It'd be no fun to watch 20 or 30 red primered cars with duct tape numbers tear around the track...right? Just dosen't seem professional. I dont post often, and am by no means attacking anyone, my brain farted and I thought I'd share. I mean opinions are like ********, everyone has one and noone cares about what they have to say.

No, that shouldn't be done, becauses all you're doing is adding restriction to the BOV. The whole point of a BOV is to vent the air as quickly as possible, and the check valve slows that air down. Plumbing check valves are designed for high-pressure, low-flow situations, and are very restrictive in high-flow situations.

The link I posted was a completely different method, that changes the vac signal to the BOV so it doesn't open at idle, but still works when needed. No check valve is required.
Why are you so diametrically opposed to aftermarket BOVs?
Because they are one of the most over-hyped, misunderstood "mods" in the entire automotive aftermarket industry. It's not all aftermarket BOV's I don't like. It's only the ridiculously loud open-vented ones fitted by stupid kids who just want to draw attention to their (usually) crappy car. They don't do anything for performance (quite the opposite sometimes), they're purely for the noise.

Despite that, hardy anyone is prepared to call them rice, yet some will bleat like a stuck pig over some stickers, a wing or, heaven forbid, a Turbo hood on an NA! Does anyone else see a double standard there?

Ya know I'ts funny how frequently you hear the term rice nowadays. If you wanna talk double standard, calling anyone a ricer, while driving a vehicle of japanese manufacture is totally redundant. Ain't nothing changed, you/we still drive "rice burners". You can doll it up all you want by useing the word "tuner" but it still has the same effect. I went there didn't I, my bad I still have a little chevy running through me blood.

Yes, function over form, 100%. If something looks cool and does not work perfectly, It is garbage, But if something works perfectly as well as stock or better and looks good at the same time, thats called an upgrade, expensive as it may be. Esthetics are are very, very important, it gives character, and ya know character gives mad H.P. in the race to win some poonanni.
