Replace Driver Side Harness

Replace Driver Side Harness
Well, I accomplished melting insulation off of my driver side harness while trying to track down the short blowing my EGI fuse. The short and melting originate at B1-08 Check Connector (my +12v to my efan got pinched under my battery tray and was sporadically shorting) traveled down the B/W wiring to where it splits going to X-11 and Main Relay. Left the main relay and went to EGI fuse harness.
I've started opening up the harness at the Check Connector and tracing it back and looks like (so far) that the damage hasn't extended beyond that wiring. The insulation on that wire got hot enough that it's stuck to adjacent wiring, but so far as I've seen hasn't damaged the other wiring in the harness. Well I take that back the Main Relay wiring and Check Connector harness got melty.
My question is, how difficult it is to replace that entire harness compared to simply running new wiring to the specific connectors on the harness? The harness passes through the driver side firewall but how far under and behind the dash does it extend? I can't tell from looking at the FSM.

it goes to the passenger side of the car..
yep..starts at the driver's front corner..inside the car,Fuse box,and across the top of the speedo/top dash area and ends at the passenger corner area.
Fun stuff..

since it attaches to the car body under the dash and has grounds there,..YES.
You know the Upper most Hump of the Speedo surround?..there are wires from that harness that are in that vicinity that have a Eyelet that attaches to with a 10mm bolt.
also the wiring is sheathed in plastic..and molds around that area..

Good info to have, and also better info is that it doesn't look like i need to pull the whole harness. My damage is isolated to specific wires and harnesses. There doesn't appear to be any collateral damage to the surrounding wires.
It looks like I can simply replace the actual male spade inside the EGI fuse connector run new wires from that to the Main Relay with a replacement connector there. And then from there replace the wiring to the B1-08 Check Connector. The actual check connector is a little melty but the only thing that connects to that is my +12V for the efan. For esthetic reasons I may replace the whole B1-08 connector.
I dug into the passenger side kick panel looking for any damage to the X-11 relay and couldn't see any damage.

ahhhh...Crap!!.
I wanted you to get the feel of what it was like to rip apart half the car to replace one little Piddly thing!..
sort of like drop the bottom of the car for a 2 inch pinion snubber..Nothing is easy any more!
..and Dude..you don't take 12 volts off that connector to Supply the EFAN..If that is what you are doing no wonder the harness melted!
you take 12 volts off that connector to supply the RELAY that the Fan is hooked to.
the 12volts Needed for the EFan will come from the Battery.
