Renesis to FC

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a renesis engine (6 port, only the block + water pump) for my FC (S5 N/A, but currently disassambled).

I have the chance to get the engine cheap.

Now i have some questions:

1) Does the engine fits to my gearbox?

2) Are there tricks to mount it to the chassis? Or do i have to fabricate new mounts?

3) Intake Manifold: I am thinking of putting some ITBs on it + Megasquirt as ECU. Or i will try to adapt the S5 manifold to the engine and try to run it with the S5 sensors and S5 ECU (RTek 2.0). Would that be possible? I think a big problem could be the S5 distributor.

4) Exhaust: I think i will buy a stock RX-8 exhaust manifold and adapt it.

Are there other problems?

Thx,
Daniel

1. Yes, all 13B trans fit each other. But you will need TII or RX8 flywheel/clutch/etc.

2. Fabricate mounts

3. I would think the S5 ECU/sensors will NOT run the engine. ITB and EMS would be the ONLY way to go.

4. That should work.

Ugh, searching would show that the renesis motor is not worth the effort. Way cheaper and better off getting a T2 motor or possibly a FD motor.

3.a tricky part is finding and ecu that will operate the 5&6 ports. haven't been keeping up with new ecu's

4.a why buy a stock manifold when for less hassle your could get better performance

reading the post would show that he pretty much already has the motor for a bargain. by mentioning ITB i'm assuming your going to keep it NA for a while so why not go with the most powerful motor designed to be NA?

I searched the 2nd gen forum for "renesis" and came up with this very informative topic within about 5 seconds:

without a working VFAD and the last 2 ports, better save your money and go something else.

The engine has been sold to another guy.

But it's okay, i think it would be cool, but a bit too expensive for me.

Thx guys!
