Removing Stock Spoiler
Im getting ready to do some bodywork and I need to get the stock spoiler off. I can't get it off with the 10mm socket because the two nuts are all rusted and rounded. I don't want to ruin it in case I can sell it. Any suggestion on getting it off? Also since I made a thread I might as well ask now. Does anyone have a pic of a fc with the middle tail light shaved? TIA!

and my suggestion is vice grips or something of the sort. nuts can be replaced just clap them and force them off.

wll if the nuts have rounded, chances are if you clamp vice grips on them or somethign silly - you'll end up breaking/stripping the stud from where its attached to the spoiler.
Best to soak them down and let them sit for a while then try carefully easing the nuts off with either vice grips or by grinding the nut down to fit a 3/8 socket or 9mm.
I've had a hard time trying to save spoilers with stripped nuts and such off of parts cars, I've (in extreme cases) had to cut holes in the 1/4 panel to facilitate removing the front most screws and the large plastic wing nut deals in front of them.........all I'm saying is tha you're probably in for a bit of a battle if your dead set on re-cooping 100 dollars.

When I took off my spoiler to do bodywork i destroyed both of he studs on the back middle fastners. I also destroyed the two clips at the very rear corners of the spoiler.
I bought two 6mm 1.25" long bolts and the associated nylon lock nuts an flat washers.
The studs for the middle reare fastners are actually also thredded into a square nut that is embedded in the spoiler. I basically with some torquing and pulling (carefull because you dont want to crack the spoiler) pulled the square nut out of the spoiler and cleaned out the roughly 3/4" diameter 1/2" deep hole that it left. Then i filled the holes with epoxy and put the new bolt heads down into the holes, added some more epoxy such that the surface was flat with the bottom of the pillar. Let dry, and it is stronger than it originally was. I also added some clear rtv and a whole lot of antisieze when remounting to the car, because the holes in the top of the back of the car like to rust.
