Removing rear mazda emblem

I'm prepping my car (87) for paint and need to remove my half-broken rear mazda emblem, but it looks like it's held on with some form of a plastic clip or rivet or some such, I'm a bit afraid to just go in there and start prying on it and break it more (I can repair it in it's current state, so long as it doesn't break any more). So how do i remove it? How exactly is it attached to the rear of the car? I've been googling for 20 minutes and can't find any info except for 3rd gens.

AFAIK, there's just little press on sleeves on the pins, on the inside of the sheet metal.

Also I like your sig quote XD the same thing happened to me about a month ago, except that I didn't admit to not having it [with unfamiliar people...] "Something's WRONG with your car!" "No it's good" "No, SERIOUSLY, it smells really bad!" "lol.. Don't worry about it, I built this engine.. Everything's normal" "It smells like a gassy go-cart!" "...Thank you! That's what it should smell like!" "..."

Haha, yeah. Emissions laws around here are a lot more lenient so i didn't really think about it, but i guess going around blurting that out probably isn't a good idea xD

I guess I'll have to go out there and toy with it a while, and hopefully it doesn't break...I can't see dumping 50 bucks on a new one so if it does i can always just delete it and get a decal one instead, idk.

Grind the pins off from the inside with a Dremel, and then when you reinstall the badge, use double sided tape. That's what I did.
