Removing halfshaft axles from Diff

Allright, I have to replace the oil seals on each side of the diff for the output shafts, they are starting to leak a bit. I got the halfshafts removed with no prob, but I cant seem to get the axles removed from the diff. According to the FSM and haynes, they say you should be able to pry them out with a pry bar. They also say to be careful not to break the aluminum casing. How hard do I have to pry, or am i doing something wrong? They move in and out by about a 1/4 of an inch or so freely, but thats it. Help or some tips would be appreciated. This is a non turbo diff by the way. Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, you have to take off the differential cover, and take off the two pieces that hold the axles into the diff, I think it's 4 12 or 14mm bolts, after that they should come out, with a little coaxing, of course. This is just from memory. I had my diff apart over a year ago. Check the FSM for more info regarding the differential.

So, your differential and axles and everything are still under the car?

yupp, still is. And according to page 9-23 of the FSM, once the halfshafts are removed, the axle should just pop out of the diff.

Place the prybar between the axle and the housing, then "jab" it. They should just pop out...
