Sheesh, that's the most bone-headed thing I've read in a very long time.
You hit the nail on the head with that statement. No longer can you service your own A/C, you must take it to a shop with a certified mechanic using a certified machine recycles it. You think the people who made up that law didn't have some interest in the company who makes those machines?? You think they actually think that every vehicle emission, every CFC from an aerosol can even comes close to the CFC's and "harmfull" gases expelled by one volcanic eruption?? They know better as you should too. I did an indepth report on the effect of CFC's on ther atmosphere and the relation to the those gases vs those experienced by the natural cycle of this earth back in the 5th grade which was in 1982 and found that to be true.

Do some research for yourself before calling something ignorant.

It's possible that I didn't make myself clear here. The idea that we can't harm the atmosphere was the notion that incited my urge to call your statements bone-headed. I don't know what it's like in Lubbock but here in Atlanta, it's painfully evident that we are certainly affecting the environment for the worse.

Sure, a volcanic explosion is a huge event. Relatively rare though. Consider though that we're driving several Million cars around this country every single day.

While I'm glad you got some good information out of your fifth grade report, I wonder if it's clouded your viewpoint.

Certainly, it's no rocket science to evacuate your AC system and it could be done yourself if you had the pump and a place to store the gas. As with all tools, the question is whether you'll use it enough justify the expense. Might just be worth it to take your car to the shop for a tic.
