Removing AC.......
Got the RX7 almost done to be used primarily as an autocrosser/track car/weekend driver. I am looking to remove the AC to save weight and frankly I just don't use it, Any threads, articles, advice I can use? What about the coolant and any concerns about storing it etc? Anybody on here done this? Thanks in advance.

its not that difficult to do...most say to have a garage relieve the old freon crap or whatever it is and after that its pretty simple to take out..i did all of it in a day (except the parts inside the cabin under the glove box)

If you want to store it properly get caps for the compressor and keep it in the house (it is less humid in there) for a day before you cap them to dry it out. You should have the freon professionaly reclaimed (it is the environmentaly responsible thing to do)

the freon has clorine in it which eats ozone big time, which causes humans to fry under the sun so yep its a problem, once its de gass you can pull all the bits off, The evaporator is behind the glove box and can be pulled out so you get a better air flow from the blower fan in the cabin and removing the condenser will give better air flow to the raiator. you wont loose that m uch weight and gain that much power but you will sweat heaps in summer.
