remember to retighten lug nuts...

So... I've had the car up a couple weeks. Spontanoiously decided to go see a friend in nebraska. made it an hour away when my buddy calls and says his g/f just broke up withhim and he wants to hang out. ohkay so drive back.
I had driven bout 400 miles now... in the last week or so
So we decide to drive "spirtedly" for awhile, and on the way back take the interstate. 10 miles from home the steering becomes sloppy as hell. I'm like... ahh crud... lugnuts. So we pull over, and search for a tire iron. Nothing, all that I could find was a pair of pliers. crud.

So... I get the lugnuts as tight as the pliers will allow... few of which were hand tight when i stated tightening.

Anyhow, we drive home-- no complications.

This morning before going to class I grabbed the tire iron and started tightenting. Every lugnut hand a good full-turn to tighten. Pretty scary...

I watched part of the Nascar race yesterday (only because the F1 race isn't until next weekend) and one of Dale Ernhardts crewmen didn't tighten the lug nuts enough. Wheel started wobbling after the studs elongated the holes in the rim.

It's always scary having your vehicle at walmart. I swear to god they torque the lugs to at least 500-1000ft-lb. Scary ****!

well, its that or be faced with the possibility of a lawsuit because some moron doesn't tighten his lugnuts himself and his wheel comes off while driving. Companies almost always overdo it. Especially companies that have a customer base consisting of those with less than a high school diploma.

Not bad mouthing those who go to wal*mart.... cuz I go there myself... just saying, in this day and age when everyone is looking for an extra dollar... you gotta be careful is all.
