Reman Master Cyl - Swapping the Tank =O

I'm TRYING to put the old tank on a new brake master cyl... and OMFG this is pissing me off.

No matter how I try it, I can't get the tank to go in... I had to put the old master cyl into a vise to hold it while I pulled the tank off... but I even tried using the vise as a press (while trying to hold the sucker straight) to push it in... both tips are about half way in now, but it's not sealed to the bottom where the seals are...

What am I doing wrong? Or any advice?

Man, they're a bitch. You just gotta keep at it. There isn't a real easy way that won't also break the reservoir

It's to the point where no matter how hard I push, it just starts pushing the plastic in... ARGH.

I got one side in completely, but this side with about 10mm still needing to go in... just won't go.

Right now it's sitting in the clamp, pushed in, I'm gonna wait a bit and see if it doesn't gradually slip past the seal and finally rest in...

If this doesn't work I got nothing, think it'd be ok to install it like this temporarily? One side is in for sure (one closer to the brake booster) and the other side like I said is almost all the way in... 10mm left out. It's sealed, doesn't just fall out.

I'll be taking this entire car apart piece for piece very soon, I'm just going to Hollywood tonight and thought it'd be nice to have fully working brakes on Sunset 'cause ****** traffic there is always "OH LOOK A STORE LET ME SLAM ON MY BRAKES RANDOMLY IN MY SUV!! DID EVERYONE SEE THE STORE?! OMFG A STOREEE!!!! PERSON IM TALKING TO ON THE PHONE, DID YOU SEE THE STORE? OMMMGGGG, LET ME EXPLAIN IT TO YOU OVER THE PHONE!! WTF IS EVERYONE HONKING AT ME FOR??? OMFG, ********"

asddfffffff

Wink

heh, i hear ya man, but I wouldn't drive it without it completely pushed in. This is why I spend a little extra cash and get master cyliders with the reservoir already on. One day of bloddy knuckles is enough for me.

Alright well even though it's not all the way down... there is literally about 2-3mm of "not all the way down" on one side.

I installed it... and GOD DAMN... could Mazda TRY _ANY HARDER_ at making this impossible to install?!

It took me... nearly 6 hours... and I haven't bled my brakes yet! =O

My back is killin' me, 6'5" and I did not jack it up... I got so tired that at one point I just sat in the engine bay on top of stuff... lol... next time if I was going to do this, I'd take off the hood just for ease of access.

And on the PCV there is a mount screw, and 4 lines going into/out of it... WHO THOUGHT OF THE MOUNT SCREw?! RETARDED. If it's to keep it from vibrating, it could have been mounted on the corner, not THROUGH it... I found it impossible to screw it in and then put the lines on... I had to take it off, put all the lines on, THEN force it around until it finally matched enough to screw the mount in... I do not like this moving my brake lines around business! Even if it's just a little, they're metal and they could break, THANKS MAZDA.

But it should all be over now... I tightened everything up... *sigh* what a paaaain. I'm gonna eat lunch then get started on bleeding...

This is definately a bigger job than I thought it'd be... no oil changing job.

I'm in for a LONG time next week... I'm going to learn a shitload... I plan to basically pull everything out of my car and put it in another...

I'm allotting a max of 1 month to get it done... working about 6 hours a day on it... -_-;

I wonder if I'll go over the month... hmm... if everything is like this system for the brake lines, I'm gonna be soo dead.
