reduced boost / varying idle
when i first got my car about 3 weeks ago, the boost gauge indicated just over 1 bar (14.7 psi if not mistaken) to show that it was running 16 lbs. but now it won't go over right above .5 bar. i'm not sure exactly when that started but i've been feeling less power for a little while.
Also, once or twice before the idle would rev from about 1200 to about 1700, drop back down to 1200, and do it again. it would constantly do that. when i put it in gear, it does it slower and feels like it's trying harder to be able to keep doing it. when i'm driving, i have to either not press the gas or accelerate to a higher speed for it to not buck. if i'm just trying to keep it at a certain speed with the gas pedal, it bucks. some times it doesn't do it, but most of the time, it does.
I believe it's the TPS sensor, but would that have anything to do with the reduced boost? i read in the Haynes manual that one symptom of a bad tps "throttle sensor" is reduced power. would it reduce it that much? that's like half of my boost taken away from me. PLEASE HELP ME.
thanks

i just went out there and checked it. there's two black things under the intercooler that both have a little push button thing on the end that the throttle pushes on. in haynes, they call it narrow and wideband throttle sensors. if that's the right thing, i unplugged the little harness that connects both of them to another harness. it didn't seem to do anything. i then plugged it back in and pressed the little push button on the top one which made it do something weird. when i pushed on the other one, it didn't do anything.
after i unplugged the harness, it didn't do anything but after a while it began to die. so i plugged it back in and it did the same thing that i'm trying to fix, but it wasn't trying to die. i unplugged it again and it tried to die again. so i just plugged it back in. i don't know what all this means, but what do you gather from it?
