If the 89 is an NA and your 86 is an NA (yah yah, turbos didn't come out in 86, whatever), it will fit fine. There should also be enough meat around there to drill them a smidge bigger, and tap them to fit new metric bolts in there.

Why not have them drill out the mounting bolt holes in the slave for larger diameter bolts and tap the bell housing out for the same????

Instead of dropping the trans for such a minor issue, get a pair of courser thread pitch and thread it in. It's aluminum housing. Since it is a 12mm bolt, get a 13mm or a standard bolt and thread it in.

We all know there are many dumbfucks. That's why no one touches my car. Most dumbfucks are at Cutter.
