Question rediculous coolant problem

just put in an oem thermostat.after i bled air throught the screw on the rad.i filled to the top of the filler neck.i then let the car sit and run with the cap off to get out the air bubbles. i noticed that the coolant level dropped down about an inch or 2.then it would come back up,no splashing or nothing,it just lowered and raised a couple times in about 10 minutes or so. whats the deal here? i read in search the little toggle thing on the thermostat is suposed to be at the top,im not sure i did that but i did put the spring side down.

It's just air being bleed out of pockets in the engine as it circulates the coolant around. No big deal. After refilling the cooling system you should always recheck the coolant level after the first drive as it'll possibly need a top-up.

Yea, that's normal. After a couple top off it should be fine. Make sure the engine gets to normal temp and check for leaks before you go driving anywhere.

LOL....it happens. At least you're careful and watching your fluids. Some would just bolt things down, close the hood and drive off not checking for leaks. Then, they get stranded somewhere from overheating.

Just wait 'till you start using an aftermarket temp gauge and refill your system... when i first refilled mine... one of those air pockets went through and the gauge pegged for a split second.. I about crapped my pants in the half a second it took for it to come back down
