Rebuilt Caliper Options
So I've been trying to do a brake job on my baby for the last month now, first the rotors where bad, Now when I tried to remove the pistons to rebuld the calipers the calipers said their keeping all but one piston up front on both sides.
The cheapest new calipers I have found was Victoria Britsh at 59.99 with a 30 core charge.
I have seen numerous others on ebay and such for like 15 bux or less...
Any suggestions?

I can't get the pistons out of the bore by prying or using compressed air, they probably could be removed with some more coaxing but its almost gauranteed that there is to much pitting and scaring on the frozen piston/bore's and I don't have the time nor money to hone out the bore and replace with larger pistons....

You probably just have a "sludge ridge" at the point the pistons have normally stopped all their lives. Get some penetrating oil and run it around the piston-to-bore circumference & see if that softens it up...Or maybe some acetone, to see if it will dissolve it. How much compressed air pressure are you using?

I soaked them in mineral spirts for a while, I was using a good 100 psi, though it was with the air nozzle with to wholes on the side, some OSHA regulations, they won't even budge with C clamps neither

Yeh, wrap some electrical tape around those stupid holes in the sides of the nozzle (a good 5 or 6 layers). Make sure you didn't "****" them when using the c-clamp on 'em, or they really will be stuck for good. Have you thought about connecting them up to the brake hydraulic source and seeing if 350 or so psi will do the trick? (gonna have to cap or plug off all the other lines in the system though, if you have all the brakes off)...
Mineral spirits is not exactly the most kick-*** solvent you could use, it's way down the list of "potency" compared to say, acetone, toulene, or MEK...(or everyone's favorite, the now illegal 1,1,1 trichloro stuff)

well they look pretty shot, and I have been told by many people that when there frozen like that its best just to buy new or remanufactured
I'm affriad to try to use the brake system to push the pistons out I mean 350 psi shooting a piston out could be bad....
