Rebuilding tools, what should I get

Hey guys, I'm about to start tearing into my turbo motor and I had a couple of questions about tools. I already have a caliper but I've read that a dial indicator would be good to have. What is the dial indicator used to check? I am unfamiliar with this tool? also, is there a puller that is comparable to mazda's pilot bearing puller? I can aqcuire tools from a grainger catalog at no charge, so what would be good to have?

The Dail indicator is used to check the step wear on the surfaces of the front, center, and rear plates, and also the wear on the eccentric shaft. As for a puller, I went to harbor freight and bought thier 2lb puller for about 15$ and it worked perfect without any modifications.
A decent set of sockets, ratchets and wrench will do you good far after this motor rebuild. A good inch/lb and foot/lb torque wrench, you get what you pay for on these. I like the craftsman clickers, but if you cant afford those, the dail ones works.

You'll need a dial indicator to check eccentric endplay and the flatness of the irons. The pilot bearing puller can be found at almost any auto parts store.

Thanks for the speedy reply. No prob on all the other tools, I've owned a 7 for quite a few years and therefore the prerequisite tool collection. I already have an autopart store puller but was just wondering if mazdas is that much better. Anyway, as far as the dial indicator is concerned, I think I saw one with some type of clamp base, I will need this attachment no?

You'll want a magnetic base.
