REbuilding: end play ?

Hey all, I just got my motor back together, and I check the endplay like the rebuild video suggested. And I have a little bit too much endplay, bout 0.0040. And in the rebuld video it was said that the bearings are worn out and need to be replaced. Are they talking about the needle bearings associated with the spacer and front couter weight, or are they talking about the rotor bearings and such?

You are correct they are talking about the set of needle bearings. Just remember to check the tolerance again after you install the new ones because you still might need a different size spacer so don’t be alarmed if you do, its all good. Oh also did you check the spacers for wear? This will also lead to out of tolerance setting on e-shaft endplay. e-mail or pm me if you got any other ?'s

Could I tighten up the endplay a little more if I replace the thrust washers and end plates also?

Yes that might tighten up the endplay a bit. But I would just replace the bearings. I make it standard procedure when I do a motor. What is that old saying "an ounce of prevention..." something like that
