cheap? there's not too many things you can skimp on in the internals unless you call OEM cheap, which it's not.

depending on how bad your grooved housing is, goopy performance in NY resurfaces them to be good as remanufactured housings. they price them per set, not sure if they would do one but the price is right: $200 a set, $125 if you get their apex seals too. its worth it compared to the price of even a used housing if you ask me. I think they are in the vendor section on this site so look them up.

hmm, must have been another rotary forum they are on. anyway, judge ito vouches for there work on the housings. its legit stuff. http://www.goopyperformance.com/cont...g-refurbishing

you have to pay shipping too but its still a great deal and way better then used housings if you ask me. you can send them pics of your housing and they can tell you if they can do it or not. unless you can find a good used housing dirt cheap, this is the route I'd go.

Don't have housings resurfaced. You are asking for trouble. Buy OEM new housings or a good used one with no damage from someone...

And i would stick with new OEM seals/springs/etc...

Its not even worth putting the thing back together if you don't replace those parts with new. You would be better off saving your money and buying a used short block that has decent compression, etc..

found a longblock online for 800 I might pick that up if I can't find the rear iron and rear rotor housing.

cheap? nope. it will NOT be cheap.

I just ordered all brand OE parts yesterday for my 91 NA, including new corner seal & springs (FD) , new side seals & springs(FD), new Oil seals, oil o-ring, inner springs and competition outer springs. and it already cost almost 1K.

Plus the Ceramic Apex I ordered about 2 months ago another thousand somethign bux.

judging from the massive oil leak I have in the engine, I expect the side and int housing to be "good", but I still have to send them out to lap it. the rest of the stuff I gotta break the engine apart first to find out.

so yea, new parts will NOT be cheap.

Dude, judge ito gave goopy resurfacing the thumbs up. he used a set and they had 125 compression all around. His daughter ran them as the test subject car for 3 years and they still had 119+ on all faces I think he said. there was a whole thread about it in another forum. seriously, did you even try to find reviews on this or what? do YOU have experience with goopys housings? BUT it depends on the housing condition. he can send pics and they will tell him if its doable. they wouldn't give him a junk housing back.

OP, ignore the haters just cause its a new process that ACTUALLY saves people money and has better compression numbers then most good used housings. they are a good vendor offering a good and PROVEN service.

they did it by removing a tiny bit of material to make it "smooth" and it reduces chatter(so the seals seal better). pretty much like lapping the side/int housing, they make it "butter smooth" by removing material(gas nitrate spray, which is about 0.02 in thickness)

so it depends on what seal you use, it might/might not be that great.

it really depends on how you plan to use it and your budget. Im sure Racing Beat would do it if its "really that great", who doesn't want to make money ?

I'm just saying that if I were the OP, I'd rather go with goopy then good used housings purely based on all the info/endorsements I've read on them. also, you've got to be a balla to afford new housings on top of a rebuild. my .02, I have said all I can so it's up to the OP.

it's pretty much a hit or miss game when buying used rotories. compression test it if you can.

I never said it wouldn't work ! Its great for people on a budget (or just don't want to pay like 600 bux a pop for 1 housing) but probably not the best thing to do if you want the longest engine life.
