Rebuild:gap between rotor housing and Center iron

How's it going?

I'm in the middle of building a engine, after getting the center iron over the eccentric shaft the iron is elevated about 3 mm I will not go down any further, I see one corner peice that is sticking up above the rotor housing, i will remove and reglue, but if I still have same problem after is this normal?

This is a 6 motor

Any information will help

Thanx

Without actually seeing it, we can only guess.

If one of the corner seals has popped out of place, or one of the apex corner pieces, this may hold the iron up. In this case obviously trying to force it is a bad idea. Best to take everything apart to find the problem. You'll need to clean up any sealants and re-apply, but whatever.

Now, remember that the water O-rings and all the springs holding the rotor seals are not compressed at this point. So that will hold the irons and housings apart a few MM. Of course this will tighten down when you torque the tension bolts. If this is the case, then you are fine.

But if you are at all unsure and think something may be out of place, unstack it and inspect before you go snugging down bolts only to find you've crushed a seal into the rotor.

I had a similar problem on a rebuild. Turned out one of the side seals had stuck to the iron and when I lifted the rotor to re-set it side seal came off the rotor and was holding it up.

I meant 6 port autocorrect is a sob, I disassembled motor again, I put a small dab of Krazy glue on the apex seals end piece so they will for sure Sit flush with rotor housing then I'll go ahead with assembly, just 2 ant ed to ask before making a costly mistake.
I have one I have one more question,

Oil control ring has a rounded side the seats in a small hole of rotor, the oil control ring has a slot that the opposite side will seat against, if either the slot or rounded edge of spring move from there correct location, will this cause a problem once motor is started or will they seat themselves?

Thanks for the reply greatly appreciated

As long as the spring is in the correct orientation, the slots and tangs will line up naturally as the rotor rotates. That's sort of the point.
