Rear wheel bearing - Wheel fall off?
if my rear wheel bearing goes out will my rear wheel fall off...cause thats why auto-shop at my school tried to tell me and for some reason i dont believe that...its humming when i take turns right now, and i have the bearing...but im driving up to Loon Mt in about an hour and i wanna know if i should be careful about it or what...
help?

When I replaced my wheel bearing I thought the same thing but I remember looking at it and seeing that it can't fall off. I can't remember why though.
My wheel you could move about 1" in every direction possible. Took turns nicely though

the wheel bearing will sieze more than likely as opposed to just breaking off....
But there's no doubt that driving aroud with a tremendously noisy wheel bearing isn't "safe" given the fact that ONE DAY it might just lock up on you......
I'd change it if you have it, but more than likely long before it would ever even sieze the noise coming from the back end would be so loud that you would KNOW somethign was giogn to give

Ok guys, well im back from my little weekend vacation. First of all NO, I do not take AUTO at my school. The only reason I ever let them touch my car is to mount an balance tires...and while they were doing that they noticed the movement in my rear wheel. One of the kids stepped on one of the hub caps...but oh well..S5 TII wheels look fine without them.
The reason I was worried about it was because my girlfriend complains about how my car always has something break when we are trying to go somewhere. And just a day before we were planning on leaving, that happened...Oh well its all set and Im home now. Im gonna go out and swap it now, but Im not really sure how...Ill search for a writeup...or just use my FSM or Hayes manual. I dont need a press do I? Do i need to take the whole hub off? I might have to buy a new socket for that hub bolt...

I can also slice dice and kick you in the *****. Its all about the tools you have handy and a space to work in. I can tear down a 3412 in 2 hours. rebuild v12 heads in 90mins. Its not a hard job.

LOL. Like I said it all in how many times youve done something and if you have the avalible tools. You said that you didnt have a press. Using an old race you can do, but I wouldnt recommend it. If you have a tech school around you just take it to them and see if they will do it for free as training.
