rear wheel bearing replacement

I have successfully removed the rear hubs on a 2n Gen RX7 in order to replace the studs. A couple of posts to this site say that the bearing is ruined when you pull the hub off. It looks to me as though the bearing is intact it is in place and appears unharmed?

Also when I install the hub how do I get the hub back on, it almost ruined my gear puller taking it off? The axle and spindle are still in place. Can I just put the hub on and force it in with the hub nut?

The rear hub can be a major pain to take off and put on. But it goes on. I like to double check that the spacers the hub has around the mounting points are pressed out to allow maximum space. One less thing you are fighting when you put it on.

The rear bearing is just fine when you remove it. Unless you took it off with such brute force that the bearing exploded out of fright.

Putting it back on is the opposite of taking it off, but you probably shouldn't have used a gear puller to take it off. You should be able to put the hub back on with just aligning the half shaft and letting it go as far in as it will. Then you can put the hub on and bolt it down. Then use the half shaft nut to pull the half shaft all the way in.

this is good news, I have some longer studs for my 7 and was dreading doing the rear because someone on here said the wheel bearings need to be pressed out if your doing the studs.
