pressing /crushing the end in to increase the spring rate/pressure. Has anyone done with with a hammer and socket when a press wasnt available?

 

ive done mine the hammer method you describe. you just have to be real careful and support the regulator like that video described. pm wackyricer, ages ago he had a picture of how he did it for a thread in the 1st gen section

I used a heavy sledge hammer and hit the tip squarely.
