Rear Housing Replacement?

If a apex is toasted on the rear rotor is it feasible to replace only the rear rotor and housing? I know this isn't the most desirable situation but it may be the only option I have. Can it be done with good results? If your not going to answer my question please don't post. I am fully aware that a full rebuild would be much better but its not an option. Thanks.

Are you talkling about pulling the motor and only dissasembling it halfway, putting serviceable parts on the rear and then putting it back together????

the short answer is yes, in fact, i've seen it done before.. but the engines are questionable at best...

A basic rebuild kit from rotary aviation is 560 bucks... i suggest that you AT LEAST, tear the motor completely apart and put it back together with new apex seals and o rings in the entire engine.

If you are talking about a complete teardown but only putting 1 new housing on the rear and re using the front housing, but new apex seals and o-rings in the entire engine, people do that all the time.

The situation is i bought a j-spec from a local place and the secondary injectors that were in it were very dirty. One was only flowing 70% of the rest in fact. Needless to say the motor went boom. Untill the boom the motor was great. The place i bought it from is not going to replace it b/c thier warantee only covers "internal lubricated parts". I'm dealing with the owner of the company and they are way cool and he has a friend that builds rotaries so he's checking into replacing the rear housing and rotor. Unfortunatly i'm not made of money so I cant afford to have the motor totally rebuilt. He said he would sell me a motor at cost if this dosnt work out. To me that sounds like a better situation b/c i'd have lots of parts to sell to so it wouldnt cost quite as much. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place b/c i really need to get this car back on the road and no matter what i spend on the motor i'm still at least $500 away from being able to drive it b/c it will still need to be tuned.

My man,,, I know you are not going to want to hear this.... but you should either park the car and wait until you have the money to do it the right way and get a total rebuild, or sell it and get another car.

My own car started to suck coolant, so I parked it. Its been off the raod since early october and won't be back on the road 'til June at the earliest. I'm going to do it once the right way and be done with it, but i have to wait for the money to come availalbe.

I'm really fed up with the junk J-Spec motors these people are bringing in. They simplym are not worth the hassle IMO.
