I know there are no grease fittings for the suspention on thes cars, so how do you lube the rear ends or otherwise make them STOP CREAKING!!!!

I have the same problem. I've replaced several pieces in the back with no improvement. I'd like to know what others have found to be the issue here.

Well, I guess this is a common problem with the 2nd Generation cars. I have a '91 N/A and my brother has a '90 N/A and we both have the problem you're describing. We have no idea how to remedy this problem either. It'll be interesting to see what suggestions, if any, we'll see on this thread.

I asked this same question at the www.fc3s.org forum. I was told that it is the rear mount bushings. I have no clue what this means, but Dave (owner of said website) said change those and all your creaking shold stop. Good Luck you guys...

rear end creak 2nd gen rx7's

I have found that the most common culprit for rear end creak in the 2nd gen rx7's relates to the upper strut mounting blocks. Replacement of these blocks virtually guarantees the squeak will go away. Often times though, you can drop the strut and soak the rubber mount in a product called AT-205 RESEAL. It is available at most auto part stores and does a marvelous job of restoring the rubber to like new condition. Obviously it will do nothing for one that is badly cracked or broken, but for most applications it will do just fine. Try this and see if it doesn't take care of the noise. You can also buy the product in a spray form which is good for soaking down any of the rubber sway bar bushings and such that have a tendency to dry out.

Well Let's see. I changed the struts including the springs. Removed the sway bar end links. Removed the toe control hubs and lubricated all the bolts and bushings as best as possible. Replaced the toe control bushings. Still creeks.

The noise seems to be outboard (nearer the wheels than the differential). It seems to be low (not at the upper strut mount which has been cleaned and replaced anyway). It seems to be approximately the same intensity on both sides of the car. It is not speed dependent (so probably not a rotating bearing).

I was going to look at the control links, sublink and sub frame mounting brackets this weekend. We'll see.

Thought you guys would like to know. I fixed my creaking rear "suspension" this weekend. What sounded and acted all the world like a suspension problem was actually the two exhaust hangers right in front of the inner Control Arm Links.

Take the hangers off and grease them. Or replace them. The results are wonderful. A quiet car at last.

I'm glad to hear that it wasnt suspension related.

However, min us certainly suspension related.
I have replaced the hangers on my exhaust during a repair, and lubed them well.

Still i get the creaking over bumps.

Another thing that is good to do while you are replacing that stuff... Drill and tap the suspension pieces for grease fittings.
