so i gots me a rx7 rear end with lsd..it WILL NOT go into reverse.we pushed,wouldnt break loose,,attached a tow hook to my car and to my friends mr2 to drag it.....not happening.finally we just disconnected one of the axels and pushed it


whats wrong with it(obvioisly blown rev geaer)


and how the hell do i fix it?

oh ya the tranny was disconnected

 

Pull the stub shafts and open it up, it should be obvious.

 

what the hells a stub shaft.....got any pics of a diff ripped open?

 

The stub shafts are the "axles" that go into the diff that the real axles bolt to. They are pressed in so with the diff out of the car put a pry bar between the diff and the stub shaft then tap the stub shaft flange away from the diff. Then you can undo the bolts that hold the diff housing to the case. Does the car drive forward but not backwards?

 

ya..it rolls forward.....thares no engine/ tranny in the car right now...we found out it wouldnt roll backwards when we pushed it off the trailer.........


and when we disconnected the drivers side axle it rolled backwards.....and we didnt disconnect the pass side axle
