Really Frustrated over NO TIMING LIGHT SIGNAL
I am trying to set the timing on my S5 TII and am unable to get a light to flash by attaching an inductive type timing light to the front leading spark plug wire. I have turned the inductor over and reversed it and still no light. Please help. I am stuck without being able to set the timing. It is idling fine, but still no light. I need to set the timing to set the TPS

just to verify are you going to the front bottom plug wire? i remember on my old justy we had issues with the light not flashing and it was caused by something to do with the plug wires. cant remember if they were bad or too small. i think too small so you had to physically hold the wire to the pickup on the light. was slightly a pain in the *** to do alone.

Usually its a problem with just needing to turn the timing light clip 180* on the wire..........but you seem to have done that already.
Try clipping real close to the sparkplug and if that does not work ......real close to the Lead coil.
That does not work and the tach is working.........try clipping on one of the trail wires to see if the light will light up or not. If all these do not work.......the timing light is bad. Try it on another TYPE car to prove that.
I assume it's one of those lights you clamp on the batt pos and neg terminals and the inductor goes on the sparkplug wire and the inductor has a arrow pointing towards the sparkplug. And on a RX it helps to turn the inductor assbackwards for the light to show a steady flash.
Other than that I've no idea what the timing light problem is. Not the car obviously.

The timing on these cars is controlled by the ECU, so unless someone has messed with the CAS, then you don't need to adjust it.
Some timing lights just have a problem with wasted spark ignition systems, which is how our leading coils are configured. Try swapping to another leading wire, tuning the pickup around, wiggling it, moving it closer to the plug, etc.
