Reading errorcodes off a S4.5 (S4 chassis, S5 engine)

Hi!

As my car got the S4 NA Pressure sensor, I think that is the reason I get less boost than I am supposed to (solenoid not opening), I wanted to check for error codes.

Problem is, I got the S4 diagnostic connectors, on an S5 engine. How in earth do I check for error codes now? I got the 6-pin with 4 pins connected, and the 2-pin with two pins connected, as the S4 do. But I can't check for error codes the S5 way, as I don't have the connector, or the check engine light (as I got the S4 interior, cluster everything). And as I got the S5 engine, I doubt the S4 diagnostic system is connected, so I can't check for error codes the S4 way.

Anyone got an idea of how I can do this? The diagnostic connectors must come from the ECU, there must be a way to check them there?

The diagnostic connector is not part of the EM harness that attaches to the engine.

The diagnostic connector is on the Front harness and located near the batt area.

That's the way it is on USA cars. I know NOTHING at all about european versions. I proved that last week on this forum..humor.

On a USA car the wires in the diagnostic connector go to the ECU pins 1A, 1B and 1D and are the diagnostic connector has a black/white wire which is switch voltage coming from the engine fuse.

If you have a wiring diagram you might look at it and see what wires are on the pins I just wrote about above. On a USA car the 1A is colored Yellow/black..........1B is colored yellow/red and 1D is colored Yellow.

It would be just guess work trying to tell you how to download a european version car since we have no wiring diagrams for european versions here.

If you had a USA car and for some reason the six socket/four wire green diagnostic connector was cut off or missing............then you'd buy a couple of LED lights and splice the input power wire on them together. You'd somehow tie this set of wires to a switched source of power.

What you'd have now is one wire on each of the LED's and you'd put one of those wires to the Yellow/Black at pin 1A of the ECU and the other LED's wire to the Yellow/Red on pin 1B of the ECU.

There's no sense in me continuing since I don't know what your wiring diagrams look like and I'd be wasting your time and my time.

Oh, in case your interested the Yellow wire at pin 1D is to be used to see if the ECU is going into closed loop mode when the car is driven. Or put another way it checks to see if the 02 sensor is making connection with the guts of the ECU.

http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/ERRORC...KI/zerror.html

One JPG shows the connector with six sockets and four wires. The other jpg shows the three wires going to the ECU pins 1A, 1B and 1D.

Read the first item above on How To.........and combine that with the two jpg and your there. You'll notice that the jpg shows the connector side where the wires enter the plug but in the first article he shows the same plug but from the side of the plug opposite the wires. TAke note of that.

I've an idea I'm wasting my time on this. You might ask HIGGI to post a jpg out of the wiring diagrams for european cars. The diagram with the diagnostic connector with the wires going to the ECU so you can see if that one is the same as the USA verion I just posted on this thread.

I ASSUMED your ECU is series four.
