I'm partially done with completely overhauling my interior, too, so I sympathize! Er, can't spell. But yes, I'd like to share ideas with you. How did you get that vinyl on the console surround?

 

well that came out like ****, i have to re-do it. That was my first try, sort of like an experiment I guess. I went to this upholstery shop and just got some scraps of it for like $5. It's marine vinyl, like the stuff they put on boat cushions. So i cut it all to fit the console and taped up every split and crack that was in my console. There is this adhesive, 3M makes it. It has a really general name and i cant remember it, but the **** sprays out of a can like a web. So you spray that on the console and on the back of the vinyl, and then start attaching the vinyl, trying to mold it around the console. It was a real pain in the *** and as you can see i have to do it again, but if you get it right, the look is definitely worth it.

 

Do you think it would work with leather instead of vinyl?

 

leather is a bit harder to work with i think, vinyl is a bit thinner, and you can heat it up and stretch it, another thing that you cant do with leather
