RE amameya Body Kit
When they started posting the pictures of the new RE Amameya body kit there was one picture with the hood up. What I could not believe was that there was an oversized intercoolor top mounted. I think the name on the intercooler was GREX. I think this would be a great solution to pressure drop from running all the tubes...if it's efficient. Does anyone know anything about this intercooler or know of anyone that I can speak with about it.
Thanks,
Dave

pressure drop doesnt come from the piping. its the effieciency of the core being used. the piping contributes a lil to lag. stock interheater is topmount of course, and has horrible pressure drop. several companies make oversize topmount replacements though. ARC, HK$, GReddy, etc.
rxecret7.com sells the ARC i think, but for the money, id build an FMIC, or buy a kit.

www.re-amemiya.co.jp sells it, i forget the price, look on the site for it
RE Amemiya stock mount intercooler:

From Site: "It to be possible to install in genuine position, power & torque rise at entire area. In comparison with genuine, thermal everyone, almost there is no water temperature rise."
Translation: You can install it in the stock place. Your car gets more torqe and hp. Compared to stock, the water temprature won't be worse.
40,000 yen ($400?)

How much boost/power could that thing handle? Personally, I wouldn't want an FMIC if I could avoid it. I know it can't handle as much as an FMIC, but what about a moderately tuned FC making about 250 RWHP?
Can anyone convert these prices to American dollars for me
133,200‰~@i’艿@148,000‰~j- thats the price for the front fascia
and 43,200‰~@i’艿@48,000‰~)- thats the price for the side skirts
It is located on the Re amameya fc3s section page 4.
Thanks

just go there they did it for you
but to your answer, roughly 1,330-1,448 and 435-480. with the exchange rate though it might be plus or minus 50$

no matter what you do those top mount intercoolers are garbage!! they are constanly heat soaked, unless you run a bag of ice on em they are in a pretty ineffecient spot for cooling.
just think would your engine stay cool if your radiator was mounted there? i think not, it was never a good i dea to put something that is supposed to cool on top of a hot *** engine, then put a heatshield underneath it to try and help but now the air has now where to go!

Soul the idea is to avoid the heat issues associated with putting a front mounted intercooler in front of the radiator. If it has potential to generate more heat then god only knows what it will do to the AC. I live in South Florida, the AC struggles enough when its hot out without putting an intercooler in front of it. The other part is to avoid having to remove the power steering. I have to say that I like what you have done with your car but I am looking for a simpler solution. Alot of the inefficiency has to do with the design of the stock Turbo II intercooler not just its location. Compare the core design of a factory TII intercooler and the one shown in this thread and you'll see what I mean. The WRX has been succesful with a top mount intercooler and so has the 911 Turbo, so the whole idea that it's garbage I disagree with. It can be made better.

the front mount can be used with power steering pump still installed i am sure you don't need 70 pi piping like me, as for heat issues i can only speak from experiance my car never gets hot and it gets pretty damn hot and humid here in the summer, i only think in road racing conditions a front mount might not be to fesable. but for overall street drag racing application front mount is the best, i would just hate for ya to buy a top mount and 6 months later decide you should have went front mount since they cost about the same.

RX7 Ragtop put a Fire-o (fiero) electric fan on his car and its pulling tons more air through the radiator now. That seems to be a good solution to keeping the engine/radiator temps down.
