Is it just me, but alot of people say the RB system is the ultimate one for the FC. But I got my doubts. First of all, its not a true 3" system. The DP is a 3" OD pipe, then it goes through a resonator (slowing down exhaust flow), then goes into TWO 2" pipes, totally destroying the 3" flow it began with, into 2 huge mufflers, then out some dinky 2" tips that look almost STOCK. Isn't that a bit too much of a complicated path for exhaust FLOW to follow for ULTIMATE POWER?

the presilencer is straight through, barely any restriction. the Y pipe is a 3" in with dual 2.125 out with a very nicely made Y, the dual rear pipes will flow just as much as a single 3". there is no need for dual 3". the tips are 3" and I totaly prefer them over any of the other ones. I'd just get ticketed with N1 tips here. and the RB sounds sweet.
it might not be the best max flow, but it's more then enough, and it has good volume levels. for a tiny bit more flow the volume would go way up, not worth the trade off on the street.

Some people DONT like to draw attention to themselfs while performing highly illegal activites. They also dont like to wake the neighbors everytime they come home, drawing possiably even more 5-0 attention...
People that bitch about cops and such with grapefruit luanchers sticking out the back get whats coming to them...

see attached dyno results.
This dyno was done in October of 1995.
Mods as follows;
1. 3" RB turbo back system
2. ITG intake kit
3. Tuned chip, not off the shelf (by Hideo in San Diego...I had forgotten the name of the shop...right before he started to work for Greddy USA R&D division)
4. Nology wires (1st one to have it on a T2)
5. RB dual pully
6. New sensors (water, O2, intake temp, pressure)
Other than that....EVERY thing was basically stock.

3'' midpipe: $75 at the muffler shop
used HKS catback: $150
Total: $350
I don't particularly care for blowing $700 on a goddamn catback

The RB Catback is way overpriced. But I gotta give it credit where its due, it does keep your car relatively quiet while providing adequate power! Although, it does look too stock for me, I mean it does look like an upgrade over the stock system, but the totally BLACK coating and somewhat dinky tips sorta makes it not worth the HIGH PRICE. Its not FOR SHOW that for sure. I would think most people will get it for its low profile looks and quietness, helps keep u out of trouble. If you got the money, go for it. It does save you from the hassle of monkeying with the exhaust, just bolt it up and FORGET 'bout it! Most of the muffler shops I had to deal with do half-*** cut & weld jobs that are prone to leaks, rusting and so on...so custom is not always the best way to go.
