RB exhaust

I've got an 87' GXL and I just ordered a RB cat replacement pipe and pre-silencer. I have hollowed out cats with a leak around one of them, so what kind of noise and power am I going to be looking at?

It will sound significantly better, but I doubt you will beable to notice a big difference between the gutted cats and a straight pipe.

A couple bolts to remove. Start using some rust eater or liquid wrench now to start loosening them beforehand. If they are really on there, use an impact wrench. All in all it should be very easy.

i have their full catback turbo system and it sounds really cool.
my car now back fires loudly now and throws flames too sometimes.
compared to with 3in CAT that flowed really bad.
boost did only 4.5# but now 15#

points scale : 1 soft - 10 loud

idle in pretty much the same in my mind and sound more free and increase of about 1 or 2 points.
mid range - 4points
top end - 8 points

the top end is really nice and sounds like a proper race car/ferrari.
Tunnels are the best.

I just got the RB cat replacement pipe and pre-silencer and it took about 1hour to jack up and replace the old stuff, but my bolts were easy to get off. I had an exhaust leak before and it was quite loud. I have factory style mufflers and with the RB replacement stuff its quieter. I had the factory cats before and i can notice quite a difference in power now. Im sure if i get better mufflers it will be louder.

there are some videos of how it sounds here.

The UPS man just came in, and I got that, new airfilter, fuel and oil filter, oil pan gasket, it's like Christmas, except I have to pay for everything. Anyways, I'm going out to install it, so I'll post back later and tell you how it went.

alright, just installed the down pipe and silencer by taking off the whole exhaust and working my way back, and it worked pretty good. we only had to chase 2 stripped bolts. we also installed a fuel filter, new plus and magnacore wires, new airfilter, and washed it, all under 2 and a half hours, os we were doing pretty good. man, it really runs strong, especially after changing all of these things together.
