RB aluminum flywheel Q:
RB aluminum flywheel Q:
I just got my aluminum RB flywheel new from RB and is getting matted with my centerforce clutch and the 12a tranny swap for my s4 NA streetport.
but my question is with the counterweight, does it have to be installed in a specific position or can i just bolt it in flywheel where ever I want? and is there anything thats a common bitch part about doing the clutch/flywheel on the car? any common troubled waters with doing the job?

There is a guide pin
called a "key" on the shaft that guides into a slot on the counterweight. If you don't have it, you probably knocked it off taking the stock flywheel off. It's like a thin half moon shape maybe 3/8 inch long.
I haven't gotten the stock flywheeloff, I plan on doing thisin a few days but I wannabe aware for things i might notof thought of.
but what your saying is that the flywheel has a key so the counterweight can only go on in one way? but after that would it have to have its own key too to make sure its aligned on the E shaft.

ya there should be a key on there somewhere like he said, its probably on the ground next to it.
do you use the stock counterweight with an aftermarket flywheel? like if i was to buy a flywheel, do i need to buy anything else? sorry for the thread jack.

thnx

and is removing the thrust bearing that much of a pain to remove if you don't use the special slide hammer tool.

For some odd reason, it didn't occur to me to mount the counterweight to the flywheel first. I put the counterweight on first (which wasn't easy, that damn key likes to slip out), then bolted the fw on. It sucked in that regard.
You can rent the slide hammer pilot bearing tool.
