RB Alternator Dual Pulley

I installed it and i can put on the first belt, farthest away from the alternator but when i try to put on the 2nd one, it wont fit, it wont go over the 1st belt to get to the spot closest to the alternator, do i have to take out the 2 pulleys where the a/c belt should be so it'll be easier or do i just use the same belt i had on the single pulley, it fits but its a little loose..

Loosen your alternator or pry the belts on like you do with a bikechain

make sure both of your belts are the same brand, type and are both new...if one of them is used some then one might be looser than the other one...the belts stretch over time so you might need to check that!

As Kim said. Slip as much as possble on the Lip of the Pulley. In neutral, simutaneously pull the belt up and towards the Alternator awhile using the other hand to rotate the Crank or Alternator Pulley.

why do I see alot of dual pully belts flipped. the reason for the pully is so that it doesn't slip with the air valve removed. wouldn't the belts flipped cause slipping as higher rpm's? I was talking about this with a friend and he said that it might be so that at higher rpm's there is slipping so that the alternator doesn't burn out. seems logical but that negates the reason for the pully in the first place. anybody have any info on this?

ok let me re-phrase that. Most pics that I see of the dual belt pully have the belts flopped so that the flat side is to the pully and the ribbed side is up. since the purpose of the pully is to stop the belts from slipping. since the belts are revesed doesn't this work against the reason for doing the mod? I asked a friend and he said that the belts might be reversed so that at higher rpm's the belts slip so that the alternator doesn't burtn out.

Just get a larger diameter main pulley, it also solves the coolant problem at high rpms

Just be careful...
I just helped a guy with a GTUs redo his belts, and the replacements from Checkers had ribs on both sides.
