It only cost me $17 to run, plus gas and whatnot

hmm... our local SCCA chapter charges $25 for competition runs, and 10 for "fun runs", both sets are 5-runs.. So for 25 you can get 5 attempts, for 35 you can get 10.. Both of those are 5 dollars cheaper if you're an SCCA member (me next year!).

sounds cheaper than $100 track day. Of course, I'm sure you'd get more time on the track for $100. You had better, anyway

I do plan on getting out to a real track next season, though.

Mindspin311 - Be VERY careful.. Activities such as this are rather addicting, and will drain you financially, and leave your girlfriend wondering why going to "church" every other weekend involves grabbing a helmet and a cooler

You mean like http://www.nepa-scca.com/ (North East PA SCCA region)? You guys even have a real track over there.

I found that by going to www.scca.org I know that some people from the far east (Poconos) have joined us in Central PA ( http://www.scca-cpr.org ) .. We race near State College.

Yeah, I think it takes you guys about 2 hours to get to here.. Not too bad at all Sadly, though, our season is over for the year I had a hope that this translates well for tuning next season, when it's boosted lot of fun with my 7 up there every event, and learned a lot about tuning my standalone.

Definately make it out next season, you won't regret it.

Why not? It's his first time out in an obviously-out of season (therefore: out of main competition) event. If you're not being competative, there's no real reason NOT to

I<3MyGXL - http://www.sjr-scca.org/ is the south jersey region, http://www.scca-nnjr.org/ is the north Jersey Region... Good thing I'm feeling nice, or I'd pick on you about being too lazy to click on the "Find A Region Near You" button on http://www.scca.org s' website

Autocross is technically more $ per minute than track days. But, $20 for 5x 60 second runs is better than $300 for 1hr of track time for my budget.

While the $/minute ratio is better on track, I've only seen 2 cars blow engines on an autocross run....I've seen 25-30 at track days...and I've been to 70 or 80 autocrosses and 6 track days...

Nevermind that you basically have to buy a new set of tires and brake pads every single track day, maybe every other track day if your smart with it.

In the end, autocross IS cheaper.

Well since Ive never done this before its nice to have an experienced autocrosser ride with you a few times. My friend, who was in the passenger seat, helped me find the course and gave me a few pointers as he had already ran that day.

I thiiiiink, he paid $17 because he is an scca member......is that right justin.......its normally 20 dollars for non-scca members...IIRC

Edit**, justin way to maintain your obsessive 311 tendencies by making your number 311. Rock on man!
