Have a stock radio/cass/CD unit. 1990 vert. When I turn off the ignition I loose all the radio presets. It's really annoying to reset them. Unit worked fine until I changed the BAC and grounded the test connector to check the idle. No blown fuses. Have checked everything I know to check. Any ideas?

 

Pull the head unit out and check to see that there's always power to the blue/red wire (1-pin plug). That's the battery feed that keeps the settings.

 

i dont know about the stock one but i know when u install an after market one u have to always have one constant power. but even if u switch the constant power one and the ignition one the stereo will still work..so maybe there switched

how did you check the fuses in the drivers kick panel fuse box?

 

Just pulled the fuse and looked at it. If the room fuse was blown then the interior lights would not work. If it were the radio fuse the radio would not work at all. It works fine just resets when you turn the ignition off.

 

Well the memory circuit for the radio is on the room circuit for your car.

So if the fuses are good (your dome light does work)then you will need to pull the radio and check to see if the Blue/Red at the back of the radio has 12V+. If it does, the problem is in the radio... if it does not, then either the fuse is bad, or the wiring between the fuse box and the radio is damaged.
