radio noise after MSD install

so i had 10mm magnecore on trailing and cheap pep boys 7mm on the leading. i did a search and saw MSD plug wires were one of the best wires, having the least resistance. anyways, i did the MSD wires install and the MSD 6A install and noticed no difference(of course dyno figures MAY differ), except that there was a little more radio noise.....like very very fast ticking sound when the stereo was on a low volume, well you guys know what i mean. anyways, how would i correct this? is the MSD wires and the MSD ingniton box bad for my rex in ANY way? i tookn my car to a rotary specialist and they say the MSD is a waste of money and uninstalled it for me a couple months back. i just reinstalled it again today. thanks for any info.

what kind of stereo? stock or aftermarket? try regounding the stereo stuff and the msd box.

I have msd wires and a crane hi-6 box (same as 6a) and have no noise.

it's not a waste of money, even if you don't notice any power gains your engine will run better and have better gas mileage.

Ok, here is my 2 cents worth. Wires with the lowest resistance are the best - for all out racing! For an electronically controlled engine, these same wires could be bad. A properly designed wire should have enough DC resistance (measured with a meter) to still give good suppression, and the remaining resistance should come from the wire wound into a spiral around the core (magnetic suppression). Your Magnecor wires are an excellent example of this design. The reason I say this is that if your radio is picking up interference, so may your ECU! Here is an experiment that I suggest you try:

Swap your Magnecor and MSD wires leading/trailing. Start the engine. If your static disappears, you have your answer. Replace the MSD wires with Magnecore or NGK (the spiral wound variety) wires. The Magnecor wires flow more juice while giving excellent radio suppression than any other wire.

Let us know the results of your test, if you decide to do it. Have fun!
