Radio install questions

Just picked up an 88 vert. Nothing but a hole where the radio was..is there supposed to be a bracket or something there for my eventual radio install?

My 91 turbo came with an empty hole there also.

I'm not sure if an S5 surround will fit on your S4, but it's worth trying.

My $89 Wal-Mart 160w CD/MP3 deck came with a slide-in bracket that gripped very nicely on the S5 surround.
(And- MP3's don't skip)
(And- MP3's will hold 6 hours on 1 disc)

Old man, you have 3 options:

1) get a stock bracket set, and use those to mount your new decks.

2) fab up your own brackets to work like the stockers.

3) use a dash kit that mounts to the radio surround panel to hold your deck(s) in place. This is what most of the "dash kits" do, but this will also likely result in breaking your very brittle hard plastic s4 radio trim. Get an s5 trim with vents when you do this.

And no, I don't have any of those parts right now.

So, just what the hell GOOD are ya??
I am actually looking at a double din 6 disk changer unit like I have in my 84. If so, I can fab up something to support it in the back.
You're saying S5 trim WILL work in the S4??

OF course it will, just get the vents and shifter trim with it at the same time.

The advantage to the s5 is that it won't break, so if you mount a radio to it you're no worse off. I have a nice white s5 GXL at the shop that I mounted a cd player to the radio trim itself via a dash kit, and it looks great and works well.
