Question Radio help

I have an 89 vert and the original radio was cut out of it. I am trying to hook up an after market radio but I can't find any constant ground and I'm not sure which wires go to which speakers. Any help will be easier than chasing wires. Thanks

you can use any bolt that goes through metal as a ground.

After you get power, ignition power and ground hooked up go through and pair off the speaker wires, one will be a solid color and the other will be the first wires color with a black stripe, those are your positive and negative for each speaker, the new deck should have all of the speaker outputs labeled. pick one and cycle through the pairs until you match up what it should be, tape it off for now and move on to the next pair. after you have them all sorted you can use wire splices to permanently connect them.

Good luck

Jon

Look in link below and toggle down to just below the alternator diagrams for wiring info. With respect to the ground source there are two panels on either side of the console close to the dash. Each has a screw or two. Remove and the panel also clips into place so be careful removing. Behind and just under the carpeting lies a bolt which fastens the center console to the body. This is a perfect candidate for a ground. You could use this bolt to ground all the necessary wires from your stereo system.
