ummm ya... what year is your car and where does the gauge sit now?

86-88 should be at 1/4 way up. 89-91 will sit 1/2 way up.

its an 88. the guy also said i should get an 8 core radiator.. there is either a 2 or a 4 core radiator on there now.. Do I need to get this?
he said i could race anyone on the highway if i didnt have one, because it could over heat.

I never had any overheating problems w/ the stock radiator. Now upgrading the turbo, you should consider a new radiator. But other than that, unless there is a problem the stock rad will work.

Ok, yes. A new radiator might be a VERY good investment.
