Radiator Switch Connector?

what does it do? how important is it?

The FSM doesnt explain it, just tells me what it is. It seems simple...but what is it switching? Does it switch whether or not coolant flows? I thought the Thermostat did that....

here is a picture...

It mostly effects emissions and I think only for a short period til the engine gets fully warmed up. You won't notice if it's working or not..........til emissions time at the station.
