Radiator question

So I was working on the car, trying to figure out my problem, and I came across the radiator. Now, on the bottom of my radiator, there are two pipe like joints that come out and nothing is connected to them. One of my buddies said it was the tranny cooler. Now, if there is no lines cooling the tranny, I cant drive it without it breaking right?
Any ideas?
ALSO: Friday is going to be spent all day trying to get that car running. And as far as ground come, all it is is connecting the wires to the spot where the bolt is on the body right?
And as far as the starter ground goes, is it that tiny wire that shoots up and connects to this white thing kinda under the engine? to the driver side?

I believe those are breathers. Mine had them too. I had no problems with them. I upgraded to a Koyo though.

Those are for the automatic transmissions and aren't used on the manuals. Might be an aftermarket radiator then. Grounds are very important and the connectors should be connected to the body with no paint interferance.

The starter is ground through the starter body to the transmission using the mounting bolts. The starter has two wires, constant and switched. The constant wire is the thick one from the battery the switched one is from the key in "start" position. Hope that answers your questions.

Ok. So then nothing is supposed to be connected on the bottom. Awesome. One last thing I have to worry about!
SO the starter is ok then. At least I think so. Ill find out for sure on friday, but I dont think there is anyhting wrong with that.
Now, Here is this mind boggling question for everyone. Because I haev researched coutless hours on this. Maybe someone can help me out.
As I had said earlier, there is this white thing under the driver side engine. Its like a white cynlinder looking thing with a clip or something at the end. I wish I was not at school so I could take pictures for you... But next to it, is this thin wire, greyish in color ( dont know if that helps or not... ) and it looks like its torn. But I dont know if it goes to that white thingamabob or not. I had made a thread about a week ago concerning some problems with getting the car to start.
Any ideas? When I get home today, Ill throw some pictures up so it might help out.
