Radiator issues...

Okay, long story short. Airpump removed Alt. Belt waves goodbye, temps get above operating range, but not in the red. Stock plastic Radiator tanks can't take the pressure and go boom. Engine is A-okay.

Here is were the problem arrives. I see no need for a big aluminum radiator, I just can't justify the money. So, I'm going stock replacement. I searched high and low and the radiator everyone says is for my car(1986 GXL) has a radiator cap on the top endtank. Well, my car came with the radiator cap on the waterneck. I went ahead and got the all metal replacement radiator with the cap on the tank. Now, the way I see it I have two options.

1. T- the overflow tank vacuum line to go to both of my radiator caps. Possible issues there

2. Get a waterneck of a S5 and run the radiator cap on the radiator.

Which would be best, and if it's #2 anyone want to sell me a waterneck?

Just cap one of the outlets.. They both do the same thing... And I hope you installed a dual alt pulley when you removed everything, or your solution to your overheating problem is easy..

If you're not afraid of a little fabrication, etc. there are other non-RX-7 specific performance aftermarket rad replacements that might cost less than the stock rad. Take a look at Sumit's site. I will mention that you don't really need better than stock cooling abilities.

There are several different Rad configurations. I think the only real difference is the plastic peice that the cap attaches to above the thermostat. Lot of people block off the T on the plastic peice with epoxy.

Yeah, the two pulley alternator pulley and FD alt. were at the powdercoaters when this all happened, so I knew better I just had hoped it wouldn't happen so soon.

Looks like I'll just be blocking off the one on the new rad. I'm all down for fabrication, but I don't have the necessary tools available to me at the moment. It's just a daily beater anyway, no need for a aluminum, as much as I want it
