Racing Beat turbo back

I was checking out the RB turbo back - 2.5" downpipe, "high flow" cat and then the dual exhaust. This claims a 59 horse improvement by increasing natural boost to 11psi on the turbo II. This can't be for real can it? And would it require me to get the fuel cut defender and boost controller sooner, or can I make it my first mod. I've seen a lot of crazy things, but never have I seen 59 horse out of an exhaust. Luckily, I don't have to worry about any kind of emission laws out here in MI.

General concensus around here is, get the FCD (Fuel Cut Defender) and an upgraded fuel pump (Walbro) if you are going to buy this exhaust. This will help to keep you from leaning out (and blowing your engine) under the higher than stock boost levels. The gains are for real.

Yup you need to get those things to take care of fuel, but the gains have been concurred by many people.

Its not that the exhaust is super-well designed, its that the stock Mazda exhaust is so restrictive for a turbo-rotary engine.

the 59hp is from the full 3" system with no cat... you have things mixed up.

you don't need a boost controller. you will need the FCD if you want to floor the car. otherwise it'll just cut out.

first mod get a real boost gauge. if it goes over 10psi let off. and get more fuel mods

Couldn't agree with you guys more. Get an FCD, get a good fuel pump, and the exhaust is phenomenal. I couldn't believe how much more powerful and how much nicer my car sounded when I put it on and started it for the first time. It's like sex.

I remember before I had my Supra, I would get rides in my friend TII RX7 everywhere. He was ligthly modded, and eventually bought the Racing Beat exhaust... HOLY **** what change, I swear the car felt 2308983x faster.

Thanks everyone. So upgrading the fuel pump - but to what size? I've seen a few 255 gph walboro (I think that's the brand) but I'm not sure what size I'm going to need. I'm thinking the RB turbo back exhaust and then a better intake. Just a little something to pick up the pace a bit before I think of turning it into a purely autocross car.

honestly i have heard from a couple people that the walbro is not the best pump you could get, and that a supra TT pump is better. i haven't decided yet.
email somebody at rx7.com.

there was a thread in either rotary performance or single turbo section that mentioned how the supra pump would burn out or something among that

A lot of guys on this forum run the Walbro without any problems. I personally run one too. I also know another guy who runs a Supra TT fuel pump and he doesn't have any problems with it as well but hes the only FC guy I know with that setup. I think FD pumps will work too but the Walbro is a good choice.
