I just ordered the racing beat header and presilencer for my NA, and had a few questions.


1: The back pressure pick up tube in the red circle in the pic, does that hook up to anything or just sit there, and the one in the blue circle has a hole with threads, where does that hook up to.

2: On the racing beat header, on the left side it has a hole in it with threads, is that for the O2 sensor, if not where does it go? cuz it doesnt look like the O2 sensor will reach that far.

3: Are gaskets required to mount the presilencer between the header and y-pipe? I bought the engine to header gasket but neglected to buy the presilencer gaskets. I'm assuming that with the new engine to header gasket, that i just take the old one off and put the new one on, correct?

1. yes, it hooks up to the split air pipe just like the stock cat did. The blue circle is around the piece which attaches to the exhaust bracket on the tranny.

2. it is the O2 bung, the header comes with an extension wire to make it reach.

3. A gasket is needed at every flange in the exhaust system, otherwise it will leak.

ok, nevermind, i found it. but i noticed that they included one gasket for the connection between the header and presilencer. so should i reuse the old gasket between the presilencer and stock y-pipe, or buy a new one?

I've reused gaskets with success but they were in good shape, it's your call. You can do it with the old one for now then when the new one arrives swap it, it's just a couple nuts. But if the old one crumbles to nothing when you take it all apart, you're SOL until you get a gasket.

lol yea, tryin to avoid future confusion...is there a way to check the gasket between the y-pipe and cat without taking it off

I say replace all the gaskets, also if you have anymore fitment questions, go under the car and line up the split air pipe, you see where everything goes into place.

Quick question guys....I'll install my RB header pretty soon, now would I need a pre-silencer or I'm OK with High flow cat and the resonator....I heard that I'll need two resonators since I still have dual exhaust...Is that true?

No you don't need two resonators. You don't even need the one resonator.I have the r/b header and presilencer and apexi n1 dual on mine. If you're smart, you'll replace all the gaskets. Make sure you put copper anti-seize on all the studs or bolts--makes them easier take back out later. tighten all bolts down evenly or there is a chance you'll distort one of the flanges. like you would if you were torquing up a head. When you make the o2 connections, silicone seal them so they don't corrode later and give you a bad o2 signal.When you install the o2 sensor, anti seize the threads only--don't get the anti seize on the sensor--helps prevent sensor contamination. If you haven't done it already, run a ground wire from the stud on the fire wall to one of the studs on the pre-silencer or outlet of the cat, this gives the 02 a better reference signal. I've had my system in for over two years now with no problems with leakage or anything. Oh, and make sure to keep all the wires for the tranny and the o2 away from the exhaust piping--tie them back with zip ties and such--very important--the exhaust get VERY HOT, and they will melt. keep the original heat shields in place, they really are there for a good reason.

i was originally planning on keeping the acv and airpump in even after i installed the header and presilencer but was toying with the idea of removing them permanately, my question is, can i remove just the acv and keep the airpump in or do i HAVE to remove both of them, or can i just keep them in.

To my knowledge, there is no reason to keep either of them once you remove the cats.

Edit- presilencer is s4 so i'm assuming s4, why not remove both?

If you remove the ACV there's no reason to keep the airpump b/c it pumps the air into the ACV. Your system came with the ACV block off plate right? I took both of mine off.
