Quietest Exhaust Combo's

I know most people on here like the sound of their cars, and i do too, but right now, i am running a straight 3" downpipe to a straight 3" exhaust on my turbo II right now. I do not like my extreme volume, and i wonder what the quietest turbo FC with great airflow would be like. I am looking at replacing everything right now, but i kinda want a dual exhaust. I am looking at a RB 3" presilencer into a aero stealth y-pipe, 3" to dual 2.5" into some sort of aero stx 2.5" mufflers. I think that my generic stainless steel downpipe might also be contributing to volume, so i might replace that too. The main emphasis is on keeping the airflow as free as possible, but i wanna keep it as quiet as possible with free airflow. Any suggestions? such as which downpipes, better presilencers/mufflers?

The Racing Beat exhaust systems are known for being high quality & comparitively low noise (louder than stock but not obnoxious).

I put one on my NA a couple of years ago (presilencer-back) and have been very pleased...it has a very nice exhaust note.

I custom made my own 3" exhaust. I used a racing beat 3" downpipe, and from there back is all mandrel bent 3", to a self-made y-pipe to 2- 2.125" pipes, to 2 Pacesetter mufflers. The mufflers are going to be changed out soon, and I'm going to make some pre-silencers for it. I like this DIY:

since it's a straight through design, I'll be putting a couple of these on my car to get some noise down. One thing I've noticed is that on an s4 TII, if the twin scroll actuator is working properly, it'll be alot quieter.

im just curious, would a y pipe thats 3" to dual 2.5" restrict airflow? also, im looking for a silent idle, i want a car thats not too loud till maybe 6K rpm. how are your exhausts at that range?

i have a rb 2.5" dp to gutted cat to cherrybomb to magnaflow muffler and it's near silent.

I'm going to try and upgrade to the REVII (had a few of these setups) since the boost lasts a little longer up top. a boost controller would solve this problem.

quietest would be a old 2.5" dp with a cutout valve leading to the stock exhaust.

custom 3" straight pipe back to RB 3" catback. external wastegate is routed back into the downpipe. it's pretty quiet unless I go WOT. there's no real annoying droning

3" straight with rb resonator. Loud as *****.

However, the racing beat rev 2 is quiet, and gets louder at WOT. And it's a quality piece.

I have been told that the RB exhuast is probably the best one you could get for a 7,

If you notice their mufflers are huge which reduces noise, but their build with little bends in the piping to produce great air flow, Is that true?

no, because they are mandrel bends. pretty much RB is as good as it gets for bolt on.

stock turbo doesn't need much. with an upgraded turbo I've seen 11 sec 1/4 miles passes on the stock catback.
