Exclamation Quiet Fuel Pump?

Hey Team,

Ive been having some trouble lately with my NA FC3S, My RX7 does crank, and has plenty of electricity, spark, air everything, however will not fire up.

I had it running one day and the revs were pulsing from 700-2500 up and down, even while driving it would surge. I parked it to try and find the problem, and now it no longer starts.

We replaced the fuel pump as we couldnt hear it running when the key was turned, and inspected all the hoses throughout the motor, even tried spraying some brake clean into the intake manifold and it wouldnt start up.

What exactly is going on guys? I feel I'm out of ideas, even my friend who works for RX7 Specialties; says it looks like a wiring problem but has no idea where to start with checking that.

Please any info is incredibly appreciated.
Thankyou,
Spence

Well, you're not going to hear your fuel pump just by turning the key to on. The fuel pump is activated by a "start" impulse to the ECU telling it to turn the fuel pump on and/or the AFM. The way you can test the fuel pump by turning the key on is by jumping the fuel pump test connector. It is located right next to your pressure sensor (a yellow T connector) put a jump wire between the two connectors. Doing this makes the fuel pump come on by turning the key to ON. A pulsing RPM is usually due to a mis adjusted TPS. check that to spec. Check the timing, make sure all accesories are off and you jump the initial set coupler before you change any settings. often times things don't come out right if you don't jump that first. Oh, chances are the fuel pump is working and you may have flooded it so check the plugs and take the steps to getting it un flooded. Lemme know how things go so I can help you out on this...
