quiet external walbro 255?? fuel pressure issues...

Hi guys, I have swapped an s5 motor, transmission, crossmember, suspension and steering over to my 1979 rx7.

I have run new fuel lines with an external walbro 255 fuel pump (to replace the stock external on the 79). I have a sard fuel pressure regulator and a greddy digital fuel pressure guage.

Now the issue...

I have got fuel pressure in the rails (I popped the soft line off and man did it spray)

...I havnt got the microtech lt10 wired in yet so I cant crank the car but on 'accesory' it reads no fuel pressure. The fuel pump is just on a switch and when pumping on it does not show pressure. Is this normal? when should I see pressure in the guage?

also,

the walbro is a brand new pump. It made a lot of noise when it was just trying to prime and was sucking air, but as soon as it got fuel it has quited right down. It is definately giving a ton of fuel but is not making noise. How can I tell if it is working to its full potential and is it normal for it not to whine?

Thank you all!
Chris

ok so I'll pick up a new pump...

what about the fpr. I've got the fuel rail return to the side of the regulator and the return to the tank out the bottom. Still no pressure reading on the gauge. Does the engine need to be running for the car to register fuel pressure at the gauge or should it be showing me a reading when its in accessory.

Thank you

A lot of aftermarket FPR's tend not to hold pressure unless the engine is running. My aeromotive doesn't, and there are no signs of any kind of fueling problem under WOT.
